Explosion-proof type: Specific measures taken to prevent electrical equipment from igniting the surrounding explosive gas atmosphere.

Intrinsically safe circuits: Circuits that do not ignite a prescribed explosive atmosphere under any conditions of normal operation and specified fault conditions that produce any spark or any thermal effect.

Intrinsically safe equipment: All electrical circuits within it are intrinsically safe electrical equipment.

Explosion-proof enclosure: An explosion-proof type of electrical equipment in which the outer shell can withstand flammable mixture that penetrates into the outer shell through any joint surface or structural gap of the outer shell and explode inside without damage, and does not cause external damage from one or more The explosive atmosphere formed by gas or steam ignites. Explosion-proof versions of flameproof enclosures are often referred to as flameproof types and are represented by the letter “d”. The symbol Ex indicates that the electrical equipment complies with one or more of the explosion-proof types.

Second, classification and temperature groups:

Electrical equipment for explosive gas atmospheres is divided into:

Category I: Electrical Equipment for Coal Mines,

Category II: Electrical equipment for explosive gas atmospheres other than coal mines.

Class II electrical equipment can be further classified according to the characteristics of explosive gases:

Class II flameproof "d" and intrinsically safe "i" electrical equipment is further divided into IIA, IIB and IIC categories; this classification provides the maximum experimental safety clearance for flameproof electrical equipment and the minimum for intrinsically safe electrical equipment. Actually, the current is divided; the equipment of the sign IIB can be applied to the conditions of use of the IIA equipment, and the equipment of the sign IIC can be applied to the conditions of use of the equipment of the IIA and IIB.
